When the call came from St. Andrew’s Anglican School Vice-Chairman Cecil Smith, that the 40 year old school needed improvements Bob Coughlin and his wife Jeanne, who have a home in Exuma and are owners of Turtlegrass eco-resort, were honored to help. As reported in the Nassau Guardian Newspaper May 29, 2005, The Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation donated $250,000, along with $60,000 from local donors, to fund construction of eight new classrooms in a 2-story building, as well as male and female bathrooms, to be ready for the school year starting fall 2025.
Present at the school to commemorate the start of the project, Bob was impressed by the students he met. This project is representative of one of the mission areas of the Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation which is youth development. In his words, “My success is contributed to my parents, school, teachers, mentors, coaches and then the values of life that I carry with me. I am determined to help with the development of our youth. We want to make sure our youths have the best chance at life."
We can't wait to see how the school expansion unfolds and even more smiling faces learning and leading.
